Awake.
That’s us.
You and I, we have things to see,
To think
To cry about
To glean.
Before we sleep we have things to consider,
Like RNA
Bald’s Leechbook
Trajan’s Column
Humanity.
Me and you.
You and I.
We have things that require breaking,
Like peas
And matchsticks
And locked away bits of us.
Simultaneously we ask,
“Are you awake?”
Together, we answer:
Bird skull
Pizza
Ocarina
Sign language
That girl
Deep
Fishtails
Chlorine
Our mother
Meat.
Asleep.
That’s us.
Dreaming.
