Quietly, I Go

Quiet as a mouse I’ll go
Quiet as a seashell, there upon your back
Quiet as the midnight, as this empty home
Still and silent as the owl I will go
I will go so suddenly
Dawn will have missed its boat
I will depart as lovingly as I can
Every grain I muster shall slip into the sun
I will not linger
I will not beguile
I will go, quietly, a shimmer over water
I will leave, I promise thee, hither I won’t come
Quiet as a ray
Quiet as a rose
Quiet as the grass in winter
I shall wither
Quiet, as soft and vanishing as the broken snow
Quietly as god allows
I will go
I do go.
