Jagged Bird

A jagged night
Biting down
Sweeping in large
Wasps of indigo blue
Like young lilac
Fresh blackberry
A pearl gouged
By the deep sea
In lieu of this darkness
A pale bird
Carrying the soul in a twig
Pass the trees
Pass my window
Throwing songs
In hopes that light will soon spring
In deafening howl.
